WHAT IS MALARIA?
Malaria is caused by infection of red blood cells with protozoan parasites of the genus plasmodium. The parasites are inoculated i o the human host by the female anopheles mosquito. (World Health Organization) |

Symptoms The classic symptoms include: Persistent fever, shivering, joint pains, headaches, repeated vomiting, muscular aches, weakness, diarrhea, and cough.
Untreated malaria causes renal failure, hypoglycemia, anemia, pulmonary edema, coma, and death. Malaria can be cured if promptly diagnosed and adequately treated. |
